Initial Impressions:

Here are a few of my initial thoughts after unboxing this New Balance 998 “Plum”. A full written review of this shoe will be posted after I’ve had more time to analyze the shoe.

• These shoes must have come out before New Balance switched over to the redesigned boxes. As much as I love nostalgia, I must admit that the new boxes are waaaayyyy better looking.

• It’s not everyday that you come across a shoe that came out 2 years ago , in your size that you can buy firsthand, but that’s what happened with these.

• The color on these joints are sooooo fire, in my opinion. I did the best I could to take images and videos of this shoe’s color in its truest form. I seen on some places online where they call this a deep purple, but it’s definitely more of a burgundy/plum. In the light you can definitely see the pinkish nature of the color as well.

• Colorways like this really bring out the richness of the New Balance pigskin suede. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought I shoe like this retailed for a whole lot more.

• I’m torn between whether I like my 998s with a mesh or suede toe-box more. Shoes like this make more since with suede, but I really do like the way NB does their mesh too. I guess I’ll just appreciate both as being equally good. lol

Where To Buy:

Believe it or not, I was able to buy this shoe from Walmart.com for $96.. If you don’t believe it, I understand why you wouldn’t, but it’s true.

To compete with Amazon, Walmart now allows third-party sellers/merchants to list there products on their site and that why these shoes are/were available.

There were only a couples sizes left so if you’re interested in getting a pair, hurry because these won’t be available for long.
