Air Jordan 5 Low Retro "UNC”

Jordan Brand Pays Homage To MJs Collegiate Alma Matter With A New Air Jordan 5 For 2023!

Collegiate-themed Jordans have been all the rage in recent years, with the 2019 Air Jordan 3 “UNC” being one of the most coveted. Fast forward to today and Jordan Brand has plans to build on their previous success with the upcoming 2023 “UNC” Air Jordan 5 release.

MATERIALS, COLORWAY, AND DESIGN

Featuring a baby blue, suede upper, the sneaker sits atop a black midsole that features white decorative accents for a nice touch of contrast and visual interest. Completing the look is the icy blue outsole, silver reflective tongue, and blue-tinted translucent lace lock.

From a design standpoint, the release stays fairly consistent with traditional Air Jordan 5 design elements, with just a few special touches like the following:

  • Stitched Jordan branding label on the heel.

  • Special textured sock-liner. Similar to the “Oregon” 5 Release.

AIR JORDAN 5 “UNC” Release Date and Price

The Air Jordan 5 Retro “UNC” is set to drop on March 4, 2023, for a retail cost of $225 for adult pairs. Expect them to be available at most major retailers and the Nike SNKRS app.

The Air Jordan 5

Sneaker History

The Air Jordan 5 was originally released back in 1990 and was another Air Jordan silhouette designed by world-renowned sneaker designer, Tinker Hatfield. At the time of its release, the AJ5 featured a premium price tag of $125.

Visible Air Unit The Air Jordan 5 continued the trend started by the AJ3 by featuring a visible air unit which was a smash-hit within the industry and changed the footwear landscape forever.

Fighter Jet Inspiration The mid-foot design element that is sometimes referenced as “shark teeth”, was actually inspired by the imagery often found on old-school fighter jets.
