Unboxing The New Balance 998 "Caribbean"

In this post, we’ll take a closer look at the New Balance 998 “Caribbean”. This is a “Made in the USA” retro runner that features colors found in the beautiful island landscape.

“When I look at these, I just think about the beach. The blue being the water and the peachy-beige color being the sand. Staring at these makes me want to go on a “Caribbean” getaway.”

Initial Impressions:

Here are a few of my initial thoughts after unboxing this 998 “Caribbean”. A more detailed review will be available after I spend more time with the shoe.

  • The colorway on these joints are legit. I’m a fan of New Balance and there commitment to creating unique colorways that you just don’t get from other brands.

  • When I look at these, I just think about the beach. The blue being the water and the peachy-beige color being the sand. Staring at these makes me want to go on a “Caribbean” getaway.

  • I’m not a huge fan of the way New Balance chooses to stuff their sneakers with paper instead of using paper shoe trees. The toebox on this shoe wasn’t effected as much, but others have come misshape.

  • I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it, but I love the look of the laces that are used in the 998s. I wish New Balance made more colors available for sale on their website.

Where To Buy:

I was able to find these for a good deal on Hibbett.com just a few days before Black Friday. If you’re interesting in purchasing a pair, click the button below to see if they still have the size you’re looking for.
